2021 Orlando Supercross Rnd 8 qualifying results are complete. Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) found a little something special in the second of the two timed qualifying sessions and came away as the top 450SX-class qualifier at Orlando 2, round eight of the 2021 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship at the outdoor Camping World Stadium.

“I’m ready to go out there and do some battling tonight,” the 2018 champ said afterward.

Anderson looked smooth and in control on the hard-packed and dry Orlando track, which, because of the weather during the week, features a similar layout as last week’s track. Today, however, the weather is ideal with blue and sunny skies all around.

Last week’s winner Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM) qualified second, and Dylan Ferrandis (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) surprised everyone by setting the third-quickest time of the afternoon—it’s not that he’s not capable of going that fast but he’s still sore from last week’s crash (chest).

Ferrandis finished just ahead of the usual players: Ken Roczen, Eli Tomac, Adam Cianciarulo and Marvin Musquin. Honda rider Benny Bloss had a clean lap, qualifying eighth ahead of Zach Osborne and Martin Davalos, who rounded out the top 10.

Justin Barcia is not having a great afternoon. He seems to be struggling a bit, unable to lay down a clean lap, and suffering a small crash. The TLD/Red Bull/GasGas Team rider officially qualified 18th.

Muc-Off Honda’s Justin Brayton is sitting this one out. He had a crash during the week but should return for the next race (after a break in the championship) at Daytona.

Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Motorsports Suzuki’s Adam Enticknap and a big crash in Q1 that resulted in a reportedly broken collarbone and shoulder. And Justin Starling (General Grind & Machine/Team199/JSR Motorsports) appears to be out for the night after crashing hard in Q2, forcing a temporary stoppage in the session.

However, Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Motorsports Suzuki rider Max Anstie is making his season debut today. He’s been sidelined ever since injuring his back just before round one. The Brit qualified 22nd.

Justin Cooper got the 250SX West Championship going by topping qualifying.

The 250SX West Championship finally gets underway today. There are a number of rookies in the field, including Seth Hammaker, Jarrett Frye, Nate Thrasher and Dilan Schwartz. Plus, there are a number of vets out there, as well, most notably, Jeremy Martin, on the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha.

The top qualifier was, however, Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha), despite having suffered a broken foot a few weeks ago. But that didn’t seem to bother him one bit so far today.

Hammaker was impressive, qualifying second on the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki, followed by Martin, Jordon Smith (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki), Hunter Lawrence (Honda HRC), Cameron McAdoo (Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki), Stilez Robertson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna), Alex Martin (Manluk Racing/Rock River/Merge Racing Team), Jalek Swoll (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and former race winner and former Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team rider Garrett Marchbanks, who is now a privateer as a member of the ClubMX program.

Arenacross Championship leader Kyle Peters (Phoenix Racing Honda) qualified 13th, and BARX/Chaparral/ECSTAR Suzuki’s Schwartz 16th.

Sean Cantrell (BARX/Chaparral/ECSTAR Suzuki) is making his racing comeback in Orlando. The Californian qualified 25th. CN
