Eight new deaths were reported from Covid-19 complications – four individuals from New Castle County, three from Kent County and one from Sussex County.
The information was gathered on Friday night, according to the Delaware Division of Public Health
Those who died ranged in age from their 70s to their 90s and all had underlying health conditions. Two individuals were residents of long-term care facilities.
The deaths increased Delaware’s total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 815.
Delaware also recorded more than 1,000 positive cases for the first time since the pandemic began, with 1,090 cases reported. The previous record was 925 on Dec. 8.
The percentage of people who tested positive was 22.6 percent in the 7-day rolling average, down two-tenths of a percent from the previous day.
Of total tests, 9.6 percent were positive in the seven-day rolling average, up one-tenth of a percent from the previous day.
Hospitalizations totaled 348, down 15 from the previous day. A total of 52 individuals were in critical condition. The record number of people in critical condition was 71 in April.
