A baby was fatally struck by a vehicle after it fell out of a car in Irving on Sunday morning, police said.
Police said the 8-month-old baby fell out of a moving black Kia sedan and was then hit by a different black-colored sedan near the intersection of North MacArthur Boulevard and Ranchview Drive around 10:30 a.m.
The driver of the second vehicle did not stop after the incident, police said.
Officer Robert Reeves, an Irving police spokesman, said the child’s mother was driving the black KIA and stayed at the intersection. Police have not released the identity of the woman.
The infant died at the hospital, Reeves said. He said other children were inside the woman’s car at the time of the incident.
Investigators are still determining how the child fell out of the car and are asking for the public’s help in finding the motorist who fled.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Irving Police Department at 972-721-2761.
