LA MESA —
As many as nine vehicles were involved in a collision on westbound Interstate 8 early Thursday, leading to lane closures and snarling the morning commute, authorities said.
The crash was reported near Lake Murray and 70th Street, according to the California Highway Patrol’s online traffic log. At least one person was hurt, and one car ended up on its side.
Two lanes were closed — the fast lane and the lane to the right of it — and CHP issued a traffic alert.
Initial reports to CHP indicated three or four vehicles were blocking the two lanes. Later reports stated that nine vehicles were involved.
The roadway was cleared by around 9 a.m., and traffic — which had dropped to a near standstill — was moving again.
