Cortland County coronavirus cases stand at 4,826

Cortland County did not release new data on COVID 19 cases since Friday, when the number of cases was 4,826.

Tompkins and Cayuga counties reported 115 new cases over the weekend. The number of people who have contracted the virus increased to 16,499 across Cortland, Tompkins and Cayuga counties since the pandemic began in March 2020. No new deaths were reported, the number who have died from the virus remains 214.

  • The Cortland County Health Department was monitoring 237 patients Friday, 109 of them confirmed positive. Seven were hospitalized. Since the pandemic began, 241 people have been hospitalized. The Cortland County Health Department has received 134,747 negative test results. as of Friday The county has reported 66 deaths.
  • Tompkins County reported 42 new cases over the weekend, reports the state Health Department. The number of confirmed cases rose to 4,790. A total of 2,426,314 tests have been administered. Fifty-five Tompkins residents have died.
  • In Cayuga County, the state Health Department reported 73 new cases over the weekend. Confirmed cases rose to 6,883. The state reports 217,552 tests have been administered. Ninety-three people have died, the state reports.

138,292 receive COVID vaccine

The state Health Department has reported that 24,853 Cortland County residents have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, or 52% of the county’s total population and 60.5% of its people over 18.

A total of 48.6% of the county has been fully vaccinated.

In Tompkins County, 72,372 people have received at least one dose, or 70.4% of the population and 78% of people over 18; 66.3% are fully vaccinated. In Cayuga County, 41,067 residents have received at least one dose, or 53.2% of the total population and 62.1% of people over 18; 49.5% are fully vaccinated.

Statewide, 12.74 million people have received at least one dose, or 66.1% of the state’s population and 78.4% of its people over 18; 59% of the total population is fully vaccinated, as is 70.5% of its people over 18.
