COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (AP) — Police in Utah are searching for a man accused of harassing an Asian business owner in an incident that is being investigated as a possible hate crime, officials said.
A man went into an alteration business in Cottonwood Heights, Utah on Wednesday and asked for a repair on his shirt, according to police.
He then allegedly threatened to assault the business owners and slash their tires while screaming racial slurs.
“There has been and will continue to be extra patrols around all business quite frankly but definitely that one, and other Asian businesses,” Sgt. JD Tazoi told ABC 4.
Cottonwood Heights police tweeted a photo of the suspect Wednesday afternoon asking for help identifying him. He was seen leaving the store and getting into a black Nissan Sentra.
