Longwood XC to Host "Run Better" Clinic for Grades 8-12 in July
Men's Cross Country /
FARMVILLE, Va. – The Longwood cross country program will host its first annual "Run Better" clinics this summer for runners in middle school and high school.
Led by third-year Longwood head coach Brooke Craig and assistant coach Michael Craig – both former cross country runners at Winthrop – the one-day camps will take place on July 14 and 21 on the Longwood cross country course on Johnston Drive in Farmville. The first camp on July 14 will be for male and female runners aged 11-14, while the second camp on July 21 will be for male and female runners ages15-18.
Registration for the camp is $50 per participant and includes a t-shirt, refreshments and the opportunity to bond and train with area runners. For more information or to register, visit the Longwood cross country camp homepage or contact coach Brooke Craig at (434) 395-2314 or craigab@longwood.edu.
The Lancer Run Better Clinic is designed for runners in grades 8-12 who want to improve their speed endurance, enhance running economy and run better. Instruction will take place on the Longwood cross country course in speed sessions broken up by designated pace groups. After the speed session, runners can enjoy refreshments before sitting in on two lectures on various training topics. The clinic will conclude with a relay race.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, both clinics will be capped at 75 participants, and spectators will not be allowed. All participants must also wear masks as they arrive on campus and undergo COVID-19 symptom screening prior to admission. Once through the screening process, participants may take part in the clinics unmasked.
All Longwood University camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants, and are only limited by the number, age, grade level or gender described.
