Two people were killed and six were injured in an eight-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Will County on Saturday morning, according to Illinois State Police.
A group of motorcycles was traveling west on I-80 when one motorcycle crashed near the I-55 corridor, causing a chain-reaction crash involving six other motorcycles and an RV around 10 a.m. Saturday, state police said.
Two people riding motorcycles were killed. State police identified them as Edwin Torres, 45, of Chicago, and John Melvin II, 57, of DuQuoin.
One person was reportedly taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, and five people had non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The cause of the crash is unknown and state police are investigating.
All westbound lanes of I-80 and the Houbolt Road exit were closed Saturday morning but were later reopened, police said.
