On Saturday, the Dutchwomen headed to Long Lake to take on St. Lawrence University, while the team returned a little closer to home on Sunday to take on Skidmore College on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs.
The women's varsity 8 posted a pair of victories on the weekend to remain undefeated this spring. On Saturday with a quartering tail wind, the boat defeated St. Lawrence by one boat length of open water. The group then came back less than 24 hours later to defeat Skidmore by more than three seconds, finishing in 7:59.40 with an 8 mph headwind. Led by first-year coxswain Sally Harper, the boat consisted of first-year Marlena Fornuto (8), junior Alex Lipsky (7), senior Marina Angelopoulos (6), senior Alice Sperry (5), sophomore Emily Landry (4), first-year Ella Tycz (3), senior Jenny Mutch (2) and junior Amelia Roth (1).
The women's second varsity 8 came up short to both St. Lawrence and Skidmore on the weekend, finishing five boat lengths behind the Saints on Saturday and coming up 40 seconds short of the Thoroughbreds on Sunday. The boat consisted of first-year Katherine Riley (coxswain), senior Ava Russell (8), junior Sophia Anderson (7), first-year Lillian Woods, sophomore Kiley Kirkpatrick (5), junior Kelci Gilot (4), junior Katarina Zahedi (3), sophomore Alexis Henrikson (2) and sophomore Jane Scherck (1).
The women's varsity 4 also competed against Skidmore on Sunday, finishing 32 seconds behind the Thoroughbreds. Harper (coxswain), Angelopoulos (4), Sperry (3), Landry (2) and Tycz (1) took part in the race for Union.
The Dutchwomen will return to Saratoga next weekend for the Liberty League Championships, held on Saturday.
