COLUMBUS, Ohio With a 7-0 shutout of Wisconsin, the No. 8-ranked Ohio State women’s tennis extended its winning streak to nine and improved to 17-3 overall and 14-1 in Big Ten play this season.

Ohio State won the doubles point and posted five singles wins, with Wisconsin (8-9, 7-8 B1G) defaulting court six, for the shutout win. Isabelle Boulais, Kolie Allen and Irina Cantos Siemers notched wins in singles and doubles for the Buckeyes, while Lucia Marzal and Lisa Hofbauer also won in singles and Luna Dormet was victorious with Cantos Siemers in doubles.

The Buckeyes will close the regular season next Saturday, as they host Penn State at noon in the Auer Tennis Complex. A win over the Nittany Lions would give Ohio State a share of the Big Ten title.

In Doubles

  • For the 15th match in a row, the Buckeyes claimed the doubles point. Ohio State has won the doubles match in 17 of 20 matches overall.
  • On court three the tandem of Irina Cantos Siemers and Luna Dormet, ranked 80th, shut out Jordana Ossa and Antonela Stoica, 6-0. The Buckeye duo is 10-0 in dual matches this spring, all in B1G play.
  • The Buckeyes’ No. 62-ranked team of Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen improved to 12-2 in dual matches with a 6-1 win over Nastasya Semenovski and Ava Marham on court one.
  • On court two, the match between Buckeyes Lisa Hofbauer and Lucia Marzal and Badgers Charmaine Seah and Anna Makarova was left unfinished with the Buckeyes ahead 4-3.

In Singles

  • An injury forced a Badger out of the singles lineup, with Wisconsin defaulting court six and putting Ohio State ahead 2-0.
  • 10-ranked Cantos Siemers moved the Ohio State lead to 3-0 as she posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over Markham on court one. The Buckeye sophomore is 17-4 overall this year and 14-4 in dual matches, with a 13-3 B1G record.
  • Allen followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court three, as she defeated Makarova to clinch the team win.
  • Boulais quickly added a fifth point for the Buckeyes, as she was a 6-2, 6-2 winner against Semenovski on court two.
  • On court five, Marzal rallied for a win against Ossa. After dropping the first set 6-4 Marzal took the second 6-1. In the match tiebreaker, the Buckeye was down 4-2 but rattled off six straight points for an 8-4 lead and closed it out, 10-6. Marzal is first on the team with 18 wins (18-3 overall) and 16 dual match victories (16-2), with a 13-1 Big Ten ledger.
  • The final match was on court four, where Hofbauer defeated Seah, 7-5, 6-3. The Buckeye broke for a 5-3 lead and served out the match to seal Ohio State’s shutout win.
  • Boulais and Allen are both 9-4 in conference matches this spring, while Hofbauer is 8-4.
