LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 8-ranked Alabama gymnastics team beat No. 14 Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., by a score of 196.775-196.400 Friday afternoon. It marked the Crimson Tide's second win over the Wildcats this season after downing UK in Tuscaloosa to start the season. With the win, Alabama goes to 4-0 on the season, while the Wildcats drop to 2-2.

Alabama started the meet off with a season-best 49.425 on the uneven bars paced by Makarri Doggette's career-best tying 9.950. Kaylee Quinn led the Tide to a 48.925 on the vault with a 9.850, while Shania Adams' 9.900 pushed UA to a 49.250 on the floor exercise. With Kentucky making a push on the floor exercise, the Tide posted a solid 49.175 on the balance beam to close out the meet, led by Alonza Klopfer's 9.900.

"Overall, tonight was a very intense team effort. We talk about it all the time, the love of the journey is what is going to make our team strong at the end. It's exciting that they recognize that and are starting to be really mature about it."

Duckworth's Rotation Break Down

"We created momentum on the uneven bars and I was very proud of that performance. We made the decision to go for those big vaults so we would be prepared for championship season. Even though we had an error early in the rotation, I can't speak enough about Kaylee Quinn going out there and hitting that vault after missing it in the last meet. I thought Emily Gaskins did a great job leading us off on the floor exercise and it was wonderful to see Shania shine on floor after a mistake on vault. On balance beam, although we would have liked a flawless performance, it is exciting that Alonza got back-to-back 9.9s … her performance was just beautiful. I was really proud of Shallon Olsen for getting out there for the first time on beam and it was awesome to see Emily do a good routine after how hard she's worked to make that lineup. I was also proud of Luisa Blanco for once again wrapping it up and doing her job after a few mistakes a head of her."
