It’s the third weekend in January, and Michigan will at last be crowning some high school football state champions.
The state will see a pair of eight-man football champions crowned on Saturday, when Suttons Bay and Lenawee Christian face off in Division 1 and Powers North Central and Portland St. Patrick in Division 2.
For the 11-man teams, 15 semifinal matchups are on the slate across eight divisions (Clarkston Everett forfeited its semifinal against Centreville), for a chance to compete for a state title.
The first game kicks off at noon, followed by the majority at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The Division 1 8-man final is the only evening game, with a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
Our reporters and photographers will be braving the cold and snow across the state to bring you updates from those games. Follow along here:
