Police are searching for a man wanted for breaking into eight laundromats in Chicago over the past month.

He allegedly smashed or pried open the front door of laundromats in Logan Square, Hermosa, Craign, Heart of Chicago and Irving Park, police said.

He then stole money from coin machines — or left with the entire machine, police said in a community alert.

The burglaries happened:

  • about 5:20 a.m. Dec 9 in the 3900 block of West Fullerton Avenue;
  • about 11:20 p.m. Dec. 16 in the 3500 block of West Armitage Avenue;
  • about 2 a.m. Dec. 21 in the 2000 block of North Pulaski Road;
  • about 4:30 a.m. Dec. 30 in the 5000 block of West Fullerton Avenue;
  • about 1:45 a.m. Dec. 31 in the 2100 block of West Cermak Road;
  • overnight Near Year’s Eve in the 3000 block of North Laramie Avenue;
  • about 3:50 a.m. Jan. 2 in the 3800 block of North Kedzie Avenue; and
  • about 2:50 a.m. Jan. 4 in the 4200 block of West North Avenue.

The suspect was between 35 and 45 years old and wore a blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black gym shoes, police said. He may drive a gray-colored Ford Escape.

Police asked anyone with information to call Area Five detectives at 312-746-7394.
