Avante Dickerson, nation's No. 8 CB and Oregon target, decommits from Minnesota originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest
During the early national signing period, the Oregon Ducks signed each verbal commitment from what's likely to be the highest-rated recruiting class in program history.
But Mario Cristobal isn't done yet.
The nation's No. 8 running back, Byron Cardwell, will announce his decision on Monday, January 25th but he's not the only Oregon Ducks target heading into National Signing Day.
Sunday afternoon, the nation's No. 8 cornerback Avante Dickerson decommitted from Minnesota with the intention of announcing his new commitment on February 3rd.
I’d like to thank Coach Fleck and the entire University of Minnesota staff for the support throughout this process. However, I’ve had a change of heart and I am de-committing from Minnesota.
I will be announcing my decision on signing day on Feb. 3rd.— AD #28 (@_dickerson1) January 24, 2021
Oregon offered the four-star prospect back in December 2019 and has recruited him ever since.

Plus, 2021 Oregon Ducks four-star signee Moliki Matavao quote tweeted the decommitment with numerous duck emojis before deleting it.
Per 247Sports interest level, it appears Oregon and Nebraska are leading the race for his commitment next month. Rod Chance has been his primary recruiter for Oregon.
The 6-foot, 170-pound Nebraska native is rated as the nation's No. 8 cornerback and No. 121 overall player, as well as the top player in the Cornhuskers' home state.
247Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman projects Dickerson as a Day 3 NFL Draft pick with a comparison to David Long.
"Lanky, slender corner with short area acceleration and top end speed with ability to quickly recover," wrote Huffman. "Does a good job keeping plays in front of him. Smooth backpedal and gets in and out of his breaks. Good ball skills with ability to read quarterback eyes, break on ball and jump routes. Doesn't get grabby but plays with technique. Adequate tackler, needs to add weight and continue to get stronger for the next level. Projects as multi-year Power 5 starter and [third]-day NFL draft selection."
