RALEIGH, N.C. – The Alabama men's tennis team fell 4-2 to No. 8 ranked NC State in the first round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, being held in Raleigh, N.C. Alabama is now 4-1 on the season while NC State goes to 1-0.
After losing the double point and at Nos. 1 and 4 singles, the Crimson Tide rallied back, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Zhe Zhou downed the Wolfpack's Rafa Izquierdo Luque 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2, while Edson Ortiz got the best of Tadas Babelis 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3.
With the score sitting at 3-2, Alabama was ahead at No. 6 singles before NC State clinched the match with a win at No. 5.
