MONROE, La. (KNOE) - COVID-19 positive hospitalizations in Monroe and the surrounding areas jumped to a new record in the state’s Dec. 3 report. The report, which compiles data from the previous day, shows 147 COVID-19 positive patients in Region 8 hospitals.

22 new COVID-19 hospitalizations account for the jump, which is an increase of nearly 20% over the previous day. The day before, data showed there were 125 COVID-19 hospitalizations in Region 8.
This is the second time in a week Region 8′s COVID-19 hospitalization record has been broken. This new record is 18 higher than the previous record of 129, which was set on Nov. 27. Before that, the high was 117 on July 27.
Also according to data, 100 ICU beds are currently in use across Region 8. That leaves 24 ICU beds available.
Data is released by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. All hospital-related data compiled for each day is released at noon on the next day. To see the latest full data, including the latest case numbers for the area, click here for our daily report.
