RALEIGH, N.C. – Coastal Carolina held a 21-19 lead after the first quarter but then it was all No. 8 ranked NC State as the Wolfpack took a 98-46 victory over the Chanticleers at Reynolds Coliseum on Sunday, Dec. 6, in Raleigh, N.C.

In the first quarter, Coastal (1-1) took its first lead of the game at 5-3 on a short jumper by Tiarra Davis with 8:54 on the clock.  The teams traded baskets before Davis connected on a three-point basket from the baseline and an Aja Blount layup with 5:21 to play to take Coastal's largest lead of six points at 14-8.

NC State (4-0), coming off of a win over No. 1 ranked South Carolina, scored six unanswered to tie the game at 14-14 when Kayla Jones' layup capped the run with 2:48 remaining in the opening quarter.  Davis again answered for the Chants with a three-point basket at 2:36 to regain the lead.  Coastal maintained the advantage and ended the first quarter with a 21-19 advantage.

The Wolfpack opened the second quarter with a 12-0 run to take a 31-21 lead just 3:23 into the frame.  NC State later scored 10 unanswered points to take a 43-23 lead before Janeen Camp's layup with 2:40 to play in the first half stopped the run.  That layup would prove to be the final points for the Chants in the first half as NC State scored the final eight points of the half to take a 51-25 lead into the break.

The second half saw NC State continue to dominate play as the Wolfpack stretched the lead to as many as 59 points at 95-36 with 4:18 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Blount led the Chanticleers with 13 points while also grabbing a game-high nine rebounds.  Davis added 10 points and was the only other Chanticleer to score in double figures.  The Chants connected on just 23.2 percent of their shots from the field, including 17.4 percent from behind the three-point line.

Raina Perez led six NC State players in double-figures with 17 points while Kayla Jones, Dontavia Waggoner, and Camille Hobby scored 12 points each.  Perez also added eight rebounds and six assists.

Coastal will return home on Friday, Dec. 11, for a 6 p.m. ET tip-off against UNC Pembroke as the Chants start a three-game homestand.
