Merrill’s Logan Heath earns spot on Associated Press 8-Player All-State Tteam - mlive.com

After earning honorable mention all-state in 2019, Merrill quarterback-defensive back Logan Heath took his spot on the first team of the 2020 Associated Press 8-player football all-state team.

The 6-foot, 180-pound senior was named to the first team as a defensive back after making 74 tackles with three interceptions, giving him 21 career interceptions.

Heath was an honorable mention pick at quarterback on the 2019 AP Division 7-8 all-state team.

In 2020, Merrill moved to 8-player football, with Heath leading the Vandals to a 6-2 record. At quarterback, Heath had 112 carries for 1,114 yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 1,176 yards and 14 touchdowns passing.

Heath, who was on the MLive Saginaw News Dream Team in back-to-back seasons, was also a finalist for the Hawkins Award, which goes to the top senior football player in Saginaw County.

Merrill teammate Jacob McCormick earned an honorable mention on the all-state team at linebacker. McCormick finished the season with 105 tackles, two fumble recoveries, two interceptions and two caused turnovers.
