8-Year-Old Boy Found Safe After Police He Was Abducted By Non-Custodial Parents In North Suburbs On Christmas Day Night - CBS Chicago

FREMONT TOWNSHIP, Ill. (CBS) — An 8-year-old boy was found safe and his non-custodial parents were taken into custody late Saturday after police said the parents abducted him from the far north suburbs.

Lake County, Illinois Sheriff’s detectives learned late Saturday that Enrique Sanchez was with his parents – Holly A. Adcox, 27, and Federico E. Sanchez, 30 – in the area of Sellersburg, Indiana.

Sheriff’s detectives conducted local police said found the 2002 Toyota Camry they were looking for and went on to find Enrique and his parents in a hotel room.

Enrique was safe and was in protective custody late Saturday, while his parents were held on kidnapping charges in Clark County, Indiana, police said.

Enrique’s grandmother has been his legal custodian since he was 1 year old, the sheriff’s office said. Around 8 p.m. Christmas Day night, Adcox took Enrique from a family Christmas gathering that was being held in the 26400 block of Route 83 in Fremont Township, the sheriff’s office said.

Adcox had been at the gathering by invitation, but had not been invited to abscond with Enrique, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office learned on Saturday that Enrique’s father had planned with his mother to abduct the boy and flee with him.

There was never any evidence that Enrique was in danger, and thus, and AMBER Alert was not issued, the sheriff’s office said.
