November 8 – We take a look at some of the top LCU athletic moments over the years from November 8. Pictured are members of the 1980 LCU volleyball team and head coach Larry Rogers, as they claimed the program's first postseason tournament title by winning the NAIA District 8 Tournament.

  • In 1992, junior forward Toby Rogers exploded for 34 points, including a 5-of-6 effort from behind the arc, to lead Lubbock Christian to a 92-84 victory against Sul Ross State in Alpine, Texas. The Chaparrals shot a blistering 72 percent from the field in the first half to build a 51-37 field heading into the locker room, and they ended up shooting 53.3 percent from the field for the entire game.

Men's Cross Country
  • Lubbock Christian's men earned an eighth-place finish at the 2014 Heartland Conference Championships, with Marco Arias claiming Honorable Mention All-Conference honors with a 17th-place finish. His time of 26:42 in the 8K race made him the only LCU runner to finish in the top 50.

  • The first-ever postseason tournament title was claimed by the Lady Chaps in 1980, as they won the NAIA District 8 Tournament in Hawkins, Texas (hosted by Jarvis Christian), defeating previously unbeaten Wiley College (entered the day 15-0) twice. The All-Tournament Team doubled as the All-District Team, with Janis Rhea, Tamera Stephenson and Cheryl Skaggs joining Co-MVP Janice Wilkey Stephenson.
  • The Lady Chaps opened the 1985 District 8 Tournament (LCU hosted) with a 2-0 win over Hardin-Simmons. Sharon Marion had 10 kills on 11 attempts and finished with a .692 attack percentage.
  • Texas Wesleyan was LCU's bugaboo in 1985, as LCU fell to them in the district tournament finals. It would happen again in the 1986 NAIA District 8 Tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, as LCU defeated Tarleton State, Jarvis Christian and Hardin-Simmons before falling twice to Texas Wesleyan for a second consecutive district runner-up finish (LCU and TWU clashed in three finals over a four-year span). It marked the lone time LCU played five matches on the same date, as the tournament was a five-team round robin format. The runner-up finish was the fourth runner-up finish over a six-year span for LCU.
  • In 2002, LCU attended a tournament hosted by Taylor University in Indianan and defeated Lee (Tenn.) 3-1.
  • The No. 25 Lady Chaparrals celebrated Senior Day by claiming their 11th Sooner Athletic Conference title, as they defeated Oklahoma Baptist 3-0 at Rip Griffin Center in 2008. Lubbock Christian, improving to 30-3 overall and 12-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play, The Chaps posted an attack percentage of .349 with 48 kills on 106 attempts.  Kelsey Odell (Williams) led LCU with a match high 13 kills.  Melissa Green (Owings) contributed a .562 attack percentage with nine kills on 16 chances for LCU.  The Lady Chaps held Oklahoma Baptist to a .133 attack percentage.  Rachel Stuyvesant (Ketcherside) collected 40 assists and reached 3,537 career assists to place her third on LCU's all-time list, ahead of Beth Lankford (3,500 from 2000-2003).
    Stuyvesant (Ketcherside)
Stuyvesant was one of four players honored after the match for Senior Day, joining Suzanne Childress, Lauren Hackney (McNeal) and Katie McGuire. LCU's victory clinched their 11th SAC title, second consecutive and their fourth under head coach Jennifer Lawrence (Craig).
  • Lubbock Christian concluded the 2014 season with a sweep of Lone Star Conference member Angelo State behind team highs by Maddie Johnson, Erin Fisher (Moore) and Christa Branson (Daniel) at the Junell Center (San Angelo, Texas) to finish the year with an 18-5 overall record and 13-3 in Heartland Conference play. The Belles of ASU entered the contest as the ninth-ranked team in the South Region, but they were swept at home for the first time since the 2010 season. In the 3-0 win, Johnson compiled 12 kills, Fisher (Moore) logged 30 assists, and Branson (Daniel) handled 23 digs.
  • LCU extended a 2019 win streak to five matches with a 3-2 win over St. Mary's, marking LCU's third consecutive match to result in a five-set victory (program record). The match had highs-and-lows and included a big milestone, as sophomore setter Bradi Marshall surpassed 2,000 assists, becoming the 11th player in Lady Chaps history to reach 2,000 career assists. She completed the task with a double-double consisting of 39 assists and 16 digs. Marshall was not the only Lady Chap with a double-double, as Hannah Thomas produced 15 kills and 11 digs to also notch a double-double.

The Lady Chaps posted 13.0 blocks in the match.

Women's Basketball
  • Lady Chaparrals coach Steve Gomez matched the program's all-time wins list, as the No. 15 Lady Chaps improved to 2-0 on the 2008-09 season with a 60-57 win over Abilene Christian at Moody Coliseum.  To add to the historic night, the win was the first win ever against the NCAA Div. II program (1-4). The win is Gomez's 108th win at LCU and he matched Dave Carter's win total (Carter coached the Lady Chaps from 1983-1994). The contest went down to the wire with LCU's Sierra Wilcox Lovorn hitting a three-point basket with less than a minute remaining for a 58-57 lead.  After the Lady Chaps received the ball back following a Lady Wildcats miss,

The Lady Chaps also received 15 points from Wilcox Lovorn and six rebounds from Hampton.
