Glenn County up to 8 coronavirus-related deaths - Chico Enterprise-Record

asianpostmedia.blogspot.com

WILLOWS — Glenn County went more than three months between August and November without reporting a single death due to complications from COVID-19. Over the past three weeks, however, the county has reported five additional deaths.

Glenn County Public Health confirmed in its daily COVID-19 update Wednesday that another individual passed away after contracting the virus, marking the eighth death in the county dating back to the onset of the pandemic in March. The county health department did not provide further details on the latest individual, such as age range, related health conditions, or the area of the county where the individual resided. Of the county’s eight deaths, one was between 50 and 59 years old, two between 60 and 69, three between 70 and 79 and two in the 80-89 age group.

Relative to several other counties in the north state, Glenn County has experienced less deaths overall, though the last three weeks are indicative of rising case numbers and hospitalizations. One day before Wednesday’s latest reported death, the county had 31 new cases reported on Tuesday, the largest single day count during the pandemic thus far.

There are currently 65 active cases in the county, including six hospitalizations. Of the county’s 884 total cases to date, 805 are considered “recovered.”

Residents looking to get tested for COVID-19 can do so at a number of locations in the county, including its OptumServe location at 320 Third Street in Orland. More information can be found at the county’s website, www.countyofglenn.net/dept/health-human-services/public-health/covid-19.
