Wednesday's Injury Report

The Seahawks had a number of starters sit out Wednesday's practice, including safety Jamal Adams, who is hoping to return from a three-game absence; cornerback Shaquill Griffin and running back Chris Carson, who were injured in last weekend's loss at Arizona; guard Mike Iupati, who has missed two games with a back injury, as well as defensive end Benson Mayowa.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll had expressed optimism earlier in the day that Adams would return to practice, but that will now have to wait at least a day.

"(Thursday) will be a really important day for him, as will Friday," Carroll said. "We're going one day at a time, and we're mixing him in in the preparation with the thoughts there's a chance, but we're going to just have to wait and see how he does."

The Seahawks are also dealing a lot of uncertainty at running back with Carson, Carlos Hyde and Travis Homer all not practicing Wednesday.

"We'll have to wait and see through the week," Carroll said when asked about that trio.

Carroll indicated that Carson, who left Sunday's game in Arizona with a foot sprain, won't practice much this week, but didn't rule him out for this weekend's game.

"We'll be real quiet on Chris until the end of the week, and see how it goes on the weekend," Carroll said. "So we won't know entirely what's happening until the week is out."

On Hyde, who finished the game as Seattle's lead back with Carson injured, Carroll said, "It's not a major hamstring, so we don't know. It happened during celebration more than running on the field, and so we were hoping was a little more cramping than it was a pull, so we'll find out in the next couple of days."

Homer, who left the game with a bruised knee, is "already moving weight way better," Carroll said. "He won't practice today, but he's moving way better from yesterday already."

Cornerback Shaquill Griffin remains in the concussion protocol after having to leave Sunday's game with a concussion, so as is always the case with head injuries, his status won't be known until later in the week.

The Seahawks also have two players returning to practice this week: defensive end Rasheem Green, who has been on injured reserve since leaving the season opener with a stinger, and guard Phil Haynes, who went on injured reserve prior to the season opener. Their participation is not listed because they are not yet on the 53-man roster.

"We're really excited to get them back out there," Carroll said.
