Mamba (5-5) took advantage of free passes, posting five runs in the seventh on a pair of hits. Overall, seven different players picked up base knocks for Mamba.
Connor Manola helped Team GATA (5-5) to an early lead, going 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs and a double. Freshman infielder Cam Gauthier also picked up a pair of hits, going 2-for-3 at the plate.
Freshman reliever Noah Smith (1-1) earned the win. The left-hander from Houston, Texas allowed one run in 2.2 innings of relief. Senior right-hander Kyle Flettrich earned the save. It was his first of the fall. Tanner Kane (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing five runs – three earned – in one inning of work.
Trey Shaffer did not factor in the decision, but continued his string of dominating performances. The junior southpaw from Biloxi, Mississippi allowed one hit and one walk in three shutout innings, striking out four batters.
