Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) – The Midlands Fatherhood Coalition is celebrating Black Philanthropy Month and the power of celebration, revival and a mobilization of black giving with Give Day 8/28. The Midland’s Fatherhood Coalition is a black led, black family benefiting, non-profit organization that focuses on the importance of men taking responsibility for their children and being a part of their children’s lives. Although all races are welcome to participate in their programs, 70% of their fatherhood participants are black.

In a statement released to the press on Wednesday, a spokesman for the coalition said they think it’s important to celebrate this special month and Give Day 8/28. The Midlands Fatherhood Coalition relies heavily on charitable giving to be able to provide their life-changing services to fathers which strengthens the family unit which has a positive impact on children. When fathers participate in the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition’s programs, they see better outcomes in their children through positive results in children’s education, economic stability, and health. In short, the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition knows that fathers ARE an important part of their children’s lives and they provide them with the opportunity to learn how to be responsible, dedicated fathers that work, pay into their family unit, and participate regularly in the raising of their children.

Give Day 8/28 is a very special day. This year, the MFC’s goal is to raise $10,000. They would love to see black men and women pay into a program that has such a great benefit for their communities. Of course, everyone is welcome and encouraged to give what they can, but the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition believes that giving back is the responsibility of people of color too.

This year, they have asked several community members to become leadership ambassadors for the MFC for Give Day 08/28. These ambassadors include: Dr. Jermaine Johnson, Fraendy Clervaud, Ashley & Kobe Wilkerson, Sharon Duvall, and Dominic Brown.

The CEO of the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition Angela McDuffie recently said, “With all that is going on in our world, we need more positive experiences. I can think of no better way of celebrating Black Philanthropy Month and Give Day 8/28. Even studies show that the result of giving is a feeling of joy!”
