PIERRE – Post 8 split two games Monday at Hyde Stadium, defeating Sioux Falls East 9-5 and losing 13-9 to Minot.
Post 8 led Sioux Falls East 4-1 before East rallied for four runs in the fourth. Then, Post 8 hit for five in the fifth. An RBI double by Lincoln Kienholz tied the game, then Andrew Coverdale doubled in Kienholz to put Post 8 up 6-5. Coverdale stole home to give Post 8 a 7-5 lead, then an error scored another run before Maguire Raske hit an RBI single for the final Post 8 run. Bennett Dean was the winning pitcher in relief.
Against Minot, Post 8 led 2-0 after two innings as Garrett Stout hit a solo homer in the first. But then, the Vistas struck for a 10-run third. Jack Van Camp hit a three-run homer in the third and Post 8 came to within 10-9 in the fourth, but Minot scored three more in the fifth. The game was called in the top of the seventh due to a thunderstorm.
Post 8 is now 18-9 and is scheduled to host Minot Tuesday in a single game at noon at Hyde Stadium before playing three games at West Central’s tournament Friday and Saturday in Humboldt.

MITCHELL – The Post 8 Juniors lost twice Monday at the Mitchell Juniors, 10-2 and 15-5. Jacob Larson had three hits in the first game. Jackson Edman hit a two-run single in Game 2 to bring the Post 8 Juniors to within 7-5 in the fifth after they trailed early 7-2. But then, Mitchell scored 8 runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the run rule.
The Post 8 Juniors are 12-12 and will play a doubleheader Wednesday at 6:00 PM in Rapid City against the Post 320 Shooters.
