Katy Asian Town's Phat Eatery celebrating 2 years with $2 deals, new dim sum menu - Chron

Katy Asian Town's popular Phat Eatery restaurant is celebrating its two year anniversary with $2 deals, new ice cream offerings and the launch of a dim sum menu.

The Malaysian street-food restaurant will offer $2 deals on select items and other new chef specials available for dine-in, curbside pickup and delivery during a 10-day celebration from June 19 through June 28, according to a release.

COMING SOON: YELO, a colorful craft banh mi bistro, set to open in Katy Asian Town this summer

Phat Eatery's new dim sum menu consists of five offerings available by $15 platters or a la carte. Dim sum menu items include har gow (crystal prawn dumpling), shrimp-and-pork siu mai, shrimp siu mai, steamed barbecued pork buns and sticky rice lotus leaf wraps stuffed with chicken and shiitake, per the release.

“Dim sum is a staple in the whole of Southeast Asia,” chef and owner Au-Yeung said in the release. “Everyone eats dim sum.”

Homemade ice creams, including pandan coconut, durian, ube and Malaysian milk tea flavors have also graced the menu.

Au-Yeung opened Phat Eatery in 2018, landed on Houston's Top 100 Restaurants list by Houston Chronicle food critic Alison Cook in 2019, and expanded his restaurant that same year to meet demand. He is set to open another concept, Vietnamese sandwich shop YELO, next door to the Phat Eatery restaurant sometime this August alongside Houston chef Cuc Lam.
