CONCORD, NH — The state announced eight additional deaths related to COVID-19 Tuesday including one woman from Rockingham County under the age of 60.
She is the 14th person under the age of 60 to die due to complications from or because of the new coronavirus.
The deaths bring the fatality count to 294 in New Hampshire on the 99th day since the start of the new coronavirus pandemic. Seven of the eight deaths were 60 years of age or older. Three men and three women lived in Hillsborough County while one woman resided in Rockingham County.
Nearly all of the state's deaths had chronic or underlying health conditions.
Six of the eight deaths, according to Dr. Benjamin Chan, the state's epidemiologist, were connected to long-term care settings, according to comments he made at a news conference Tuesday.
The state also announced 53 new positive patients including two children. Of the new cases, 62 percent were women and 38 percent men. Seventeen live in Manchester, 15 live in Hillsborough County other than Manchester and Nashua, seven reside in Rockingham County, six live in Nashua, and five live in Merrimack County, including one in Concord.
Accumulatively, there have been 5,132 COVID-19 cases in New Hampshire with 3,501 or 68 percent recovering from the virus.
Three of the new cases have no identified risk factors, according to the state.
Four of the new patients required hospitalization bringing the number to 496 or less than 10 percent who needed more extensive care since the pandemic started nearly 100 days ago. About 80 patients are currently hospitalized.
Approximately 3,950 people are under public health monitoring by the state.
The state has taken in 103,737 polymerase chain reaction and antibody specimens with 98,605 or 95 percent of the tests yielding a negative result. More than 1,500 tests were taken Monday with the state averaging around 2,100 tests per day.

The COVID-19 virus is spread through respiratory droplets, usually through coughing and sneezing, and exposure to others who are sick or might be showing symptoms.
Health officials emphasize residents should follow these recommendations:
- Avoid any domestic and international travel, especially on public transportation such as buses, trains, and airplanes.
- Practice social distancing. Stay at least 6 feet from other people, including distancing while in waiting areas or lines.
- Anybody who is told to self-quarantine and stay at home due to exposure to a person with confirmed or suspect COVID-19 needs to stay home and not go out into public places.
- If you are 60 years or older or have chronic medical conditions, you need to stay home and not go out.
- Avoid gatherings of 10 people or more.
- Employers need to move to telework as much as possible.
- There is increasing evidence that this virus can survive for hours or possibly even a few days on surfaces, so people should clean frequently touched surfaces, including door handles, grocery carts and grocery basket handles, etc.
Take the same precautions as you would if you were sick:
- Stay home and avoid public places when sick (i.e., social distancing).
- Cover mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.
- Wash hands frequently.
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
