US Navy: USS Fitzgerald Collides With Merchant Vessel Off Japan Coast

The U.S. Navy on Friday said the destroyer USS Fitzgerald has collided with a merchant vessel off the coast of Japan, southwest of Yokosuka.

The Navy said the extent of personal injuries "is being determined" and it has sought assistance from the Japanese Coast Guard.
